5 Things You Didn’t Know About Online Learning

Millions of students enroll in online courses every year, and now almost one-third of enrollments are done online. In fact, over 3 million students now learn exclusively online. Even employers have come to view online courses positively (as long as a course is offered by a reputable college). Here are a few things you probably did not know about online learning:

1. It Can Be Exhausting:

Online learning, with its flexible schedule and study hours, may seem like a walk in the park. But the reality can be very different. You will have to spend several hours every week on the computer, logging in to listen to or watch lectures, participate in online discussion boards, and participate in projects. This can be interesting at first, but it becomes tedious as you move into the course without proper preparation. During the duration of the course, you will have to put other commitments aside and devote all your time and attention to the course.

2. Not All Course Credits Will Transfer:

If you’re planning to enroll in an online course, make sure your course credits will be transferred. The online school must be regionally accredited or you may not get any credit at all. Similarly, transferring from one school to another could hurt your credit transfer. For instance, a course that’s considered in a marketing degree at one school could be considered as an elective course at another college, and this could affect your credit achievement.

3. Not All Courses Are Completely Online:

Some colleges may still require students to join in traditional in-person lectures a couple times throughout the semester. For instance, you may be asked to complete lab requirements for online nursing courses. Before signing up for a course, make sure you check to see if the program involves on-campus training.

4. You Can Always Seek Help:

While learning can be tedious, help is always nearby. There are thousands of online class tutors offering to help online students complete their online courses; these tutors can manage assignments and tests with ease. All you have to do is call a tutor and ask: “Can you take my online class for me?” Tutors promise to complete assignments on time and even guarantee great grades. But before hiring a tutor, make sure they can ensure zero plagiarism.

5. Not All Online Courses Are Credible:

Quality control can be a problem in an online platform. Remember to check for accreditation before you sign up for a course. Make sure the college is well managed, the internal protocol is student friendly, financial aid is available, and there’s plenty of help for students from mentors.
