7 Makeup Tricks to Hide The Drooping Eyelids | Online Makeup Tips

7 makeup tricks to hide the drooping eyelids

If you want to bring the look for a night out or just wear brighter eyes for your day at the office, we have found the techniques you need to make your drooping eyes - hooded and all - shine. That is why we have prepared these 7 makeup tricks to disguise this type of eyes.

Before we start, let's find out if you really have drooping or hooded eyelids. Do your eyes fold? Check the image above.

If they do not come up or down (that is, they are straight), ask yourself one last question: Is the fold visible?

Concealer Palette

If not, you have hooded eyes, which mean that all the following tips apply to you.

1. Invest in a pre-foundation makeup that you love

One of the things that can help you use eyeshadow and without it sliding over your eyelids and brow bone is a good pre-foundation for eye makeup. It is called "prime" too, and it is a base that precedes makeup to fix even better the latter. Using a pre-foundation makeup on the eyelids will help you to fix the shadow without fade, this will help maintain that look you want on your eyelids "pyjamas”. They come in different shades and colours to disguise even skin colour and spots, but their main objective is to fix the makeup and make it durable. They come in liquid or powder. Choose the prime that goes best with your skin.

2. Only use eyeliner and smudge-proof mascara on droopy eyelids
People with hooded eyes know very well the fight of eyes stained makeup. Apply 15 layers of mascara, or, finally, make the eyeliner look perfect, and with a blinking, it is suddenly there are already spots on the bone of the eyebrows. Prevent that from happening again with the water-resistant and stain-resistant makeup that you can already find in environmentally friendly products if you are a natural woman.

3. Outline the line of the upper lashes
This is a makeup trick to hide the eyelids very effective. It means that you are going to take the eyeliner and you are going to apply it directly on the line where the eyelashes are, as close as you can to your eyeball. That will make your eyes look more defined and bigger. It seems difficult, but it becomes easier with practice. You can do both up and down, however, leaving the inner line of the lower lashes without eyeliner, in general, makes the eyes look bigger (another advantage for those with hooded eyes).

4. Experiment with colour in makeup to conceal hooded eyes
But wait, all is not "lost" if your eyelids are down because playing with colour can bring many advantages to you in particular. Since your eyelids cover a large area of your eyes, naturally, it will create a more subtle appearance. It's the perfect excuse to come out with a touch of bold seasonal colour, like a touch of violet, which could be overwhelming in a larger eyelid space. Try an electric blue or fuchsia colour. You can even use both mascara and mascara and eyeliner for a dramatic, cohesive look. Make sure you have leftovers beyond the fold up, to maximize the colour below.

5. Apply shade on top of the fold
This concealing makeup technique can make all the difference if you have this type of eyelids that can be dropped, hooded or swollen. Did you ever put in a lot of eyeshadow only to discover that it disappears as soon as you open your eyes? That is a common problem if your eyes are hooded or swollen, but it is easy to solve by simply leaving without applying shade under the fold just above it, or applying it but extending its application over the fold of the eyelid. This makes a big difference. Apply for both neutral tones and smoked tones where you can extend the tone on the lower eyelid for a more dramatic look (see next image).

In the following image, as you can see, the dramatic tones as they are smoked, give depth to the eyes. If you can see well, the shadow was projected above the natural crease of the eye and was also placed on the lower eyelid as a shadow blur. These colours and how to place them, give the eye more depth, and even more if you apply a lighter and pearly tone only between the two eyelids. This effect will give the eye a more open and bright appearance.

6. Experiment in your makeup to hide with cat eyes
Sometimes a good cat's eye can be difficult if you have eyelid drooping or hooded, but this technique brings a lot of benefit to this type of eyes. The possibilities of playing with this style of makeup your eyes are endless, that depends on your own eye.

7. Experiment
The only way to know what works for you is through experimentation. Having quality products and friendly to your body helps a lot too, but other than that, it's all about practice and learning from mistakes. When you have free time, try a variety of shapes and sizes of cat's eye, or see if extending the eyeshadow beyond the fold helps, or not; if the strong colours go with your eye style too. In short, that this is based on experimentation.

Foundation Make up Tips

Mastering makeup for the eyes when you do not have much space on the eyelid is not easy, but you are not alone. Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively, and Camilla Belle are just some of the beautiful celebrities who have hooded eyes, or droopy eyelids as we usually call them, so you can gain confidence (and inspiration when putting on makeup) from them, because, in reality, it's just another eye shape, which you can use to look beautiful.
