Birmingham Manor Bed and Breakfast is located in Stratford, Ontario. This Victorian heritage mansion is surrounded by trees and formal gardens. It is the perfect spot for many unique experiences. Anyone looking to relax, take in the manicured gardens and delight in the formality of the parlor will be well satisfied here at the Manor.
Birmingham Manor is one of Stratford’s historic homes, built in 1904 by colonel John Lant Youngs as his personal residence. He was a decorated officer serving during the First World War. His remarkable wood carving skills can be seen throughout the home.
If there is one thing that sets this Bed and Breakfast apart from the others it is the amazing breakfast creations B&B owner Elena Pastura presents you with in the morning. There is no other Bed and Breakfast I have ever visited that offers such a unique, artistic and elegant breakfast.
The Manor is located in the heritage district within walking distance to the famous Shakespeare Gardens, Avon Theatre, Studio Theatre , Tom Patterson Theatre and the Stratford Festival Theatre .
Windbreak Farm Bed and Breakfast offers a charming country experience. Owners, Bob and Cathy Hutson make you feel right at home as soon as you walk through the door. The allure of this century old, Victorian farmhouse surrounded by farm fields, trees and nature will ensure you have a restful stay. I enjoyed the serene rooms with comfortable beds and the deep clawfoot bathtub. The upper storey verandah allows you to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful rural sunsets.
Although it is a short drive from some of the surrounding attractions such as the Stratford Festival you will enjoy every moment of the beautiful countryside, from the corn and wheat fields, the livestock grazing in the fields and then the arrival at the home where you will be greeted by the friendly cat and can wander about the grounds where gardens thrive and horses graze.
Cathy’s filling homestyle breakfast will leave you no room for lunch. Oh, and don’t forget to pick up her cookbook before you depart so that you can master her wonderful cooking at home. I couldn’t leave without picking up some of Bob’s stunning, one of a kind hand crafted woodworking also. For me, the custom made cutting board and a bird house that I absolutely love will always remind me of a wonderful stay at Windbreak Farm.
If you are price conscious, this is absolutely the place. Guests receive everything they would at a city bed and breakfast with the added charm of the country.
Whispering Pines of Stratford.
There is one thing that sets Whispering Pines of Stratford Bed and Breakfast apart from the rest on this list it is in the ideal location for Stratford Festival theatre goers. The short walk (around 5-10 minutes depending on your pace) through the wooded area, tailored gardens, passing by waterfalls for a peaceful stroll along the Avon River, so famous for its swans will allow you to leave the car and enjoy unrivalled scenery.
The backyard is surrounded by magnificent tree-lined walkways and gardens, providing you a perfect place to relax. Be sure to sit awhile and take it all in.
The location was perfect, not just for the theaters but also for its location, pertaining to shopping, golfing Avon river and the Art Gallery. The leisurely breakfast was a highlight. We didn’t have to worry about dinner reservations, which was a huge help. Whispering Pines offers more than just a destination. It was an experience that went beyond just a place to stay.
All rooms are well accommodating while the Master Suite offers something extra! with its private attached sunroom, bringing Stratfords beauty indoors.

The home was built in 1902 by a local farmer and carpenter who spared no expense. The home includes arched stain glass windows, high ceilings and a wraparound veranda.
