Gaudí brings us to the next sight on your do-not-miss list. Park Güell is an expansive public park located on Carmel Hill in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. The park is known for Gaudí’s beautiful mosaic work that can be seen on benches along the main terrace, as well as a salamander sculpture at the park’s entrance known as “el drac”. Photo-ops are not to be missed with the beautiful, panoramic views of Barcelona and the bay from the main terrace. There is a house inside the park as well, called the Gaudí House Museum, which Gaudí himself actually lived in.

All the sightseeing will definitely make you hungry, which is when you should take advantage of the incredible food Barcelona has to offer. Barcelona is the capital of the district of Spain called Catalonia, and Catalan cuisine is not to be missed. Tapas is extremely popular, and consists of ordering multiple small plates throughout the course of a meal. Paella is also popular, though not a traditional Catalan dish, you can still find it served in different varieties throughout Barcelona. You’ll find a popular sauce called Allioili served with many dishes. It is made out of garlic and olive oil.
