Heave yourself up the valley that looks to soften like afternoon heat. Run after Barbary sheep downhill with the help of a mountain bike. Plunge along rabbits as they pinch through slot canyons. It looks like that, Morocco was made for outdoor activities. So, let’s find out what outdoor activities you can find during your Morocco travel.
Camel trekking in Erg Chigaga:
Camel trekking in Morocco is an extraordinarily soothing experience, their swaying bumps rocking back & onward and feet swishing through the dense sand. From the lonely southern refuge of M’Hamid it is a 5-day trek across the stone desert to Erg Chigaga’s rolling sand sea. As you come over the Bousnaina plain you may witness the remains of villages that are long gone. When you arrive at the dunes, they’re perfect & immaculate and you may just feel a little bit culpable climbing their flawless curves. When night arrives, it becomes very dark with the sky filled with lots of bright stars that make you feel as you have voyaged a little closer to the heaven.
Hiking the Todra Gorge:
This is a profound limestone channel that detaches the High Atlas from the Sahara. Hikers have been approaching here since 1977. In the month of May & June you can see climbers spread out on the rock faces like lizards drenching the sun rays. The Pillar du Couchant close to the entry to the valley, provides typical long climbs; the Petit Gorge & Kilimanjaro segment are better for starters; and those sanctified with huge biceps can try Can Güllich's tiered walls.
Relish kayaking in the Ahansal Valley:
Folded in by the splintered and fractured mountains of the central High Atlas, the Ahansal Valley is a splendid natural canvas. In late autumn, a multiday river sprint is feasible from the Bin el-Quidane dam. Apes keep pace on the tree surrounded banks, Berber kid from neighboring villages gets a ride, the back of boats, and exciting eddies & rapids keep your heart pumping. During the night the orange light from campfires flashes off the canyon valley and the echoes of the hastening river forces you to snooze.
Mountain biking in Jebel Saghro:
The flat-crested mesas & profound valleys of Jebel Saghro are only accessible via foot or by mule. Trade mules for bikes and you will offer yourself a fascinating ride of hairpin bends & white knuckle falls. Though riding here is difficult, but the rewards are massive.
