LifeLine sparks whole community change! Connecting to LifeLine gives you immediate access to a wide range of services, opportunities to make friends and give something back to your community.
LifeLine was founded in 2000 by a group of volunteers in East London working with isolated and marginalised women. Over the last ten years it has grown from a small organisation with two part-time members of staff, to one of the larger community-based, social enterprises in the capital, with an expected turnover of £6.2 million for 2010/11and employing over 140 staff.
Our founding principle is about sparking whole community change by delivering services that recognise the importance of the WHOLE person, WHOLE family and the WHOLE community. We want to ensure that LifeLine, as an innovative social enterprise is at the cutting edge of best practice based on its considerable experience on the ground and in depth knowledge of the communities across London that it serves.
LifeLine operates with a sensitivity and flexibility of response that is not always possible from large and at times remote statutory agencies. We always ensure that our programmes focus on enhancing the lives of the most isolated and vulnerable, assisting them to develop the confidence and skills to become economically active individuals who contribute positively to their community. Value and impact are added to the broad range of public sector programmes LifeLine delivers through the extensive programme of additional, volunteer-led services provided by LifeLine Church.
